When your punching something, what muscle are you using the most?
kenny,
That depends on how you are punching--it'll be different for an uppercut from a haymaker--but collectively it's about equal for tricep and deltoid. After that comes the pectoral and bicep. Leg muscles give support to throw the body against the opponent and increase the power of the punch.
But arms? Tricep and deltoid.
(
my arm muscle.
)
the are is approaching a lever or pulley system so you would actually be using your biceps to reinforce your triceps within the punch
Actually, if your punch carries any power, you use mostly leg and hip muscles. This is why boxers verbs when they punch. It is also why an uppercut or a cross delivers more power than a punch.
